Elias K. Ghuneim, age 86, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Flagler Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on December 3, 1927 in Nazareth to Salti and Kamleh Ghuneim.
Elias grew up and was educated in Jerusalem and then moved to the United States in 1963. For many years he traveled the world working for Pan American World Airways. He met his wife to be, Margaret Doyle, who also worked for Pan American in Liberia and they later married in Massachusetts. Together they raised their family while living on Long Island, New York and later lived for many years in Martinique and other islands of the Caribbean and many other countries.
Elias retired as a Director of Pan American in the late 1980's, after 33 years of service. He was a devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather.
Elias is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Ghuneim of St. Augustine; daughters, Leila Demetrovits (Stephen) of Fairfield, Connecticut, Pamela MacIntyre (Colin) of London, England; a son, Mark Ghuneim (Mari) of Manhattan, New York; four grandchildren, Clare, Michael, Sian and Reegan; and a sister, Marguerite Durou (Guy) of Taix, France.
